SMELT 2010 will take place in the National Heritage Park, Ferrycarrig, Co. Wexford. It will be an attempt, for the first time since the 1950s, to smelt Irish bog ore in a furnace based on Irish archaeological evidence.
The smelt itself will take place in March 2010 but prior to that I will be prospecting (with the help of some friends) for ore, making charcoal and making bellows. I plan to document every step of the project on this site through video, text and images. I will also be reporting on progress as it happens on my blog.
